On an aside, I've read/watched/heard that Guard Dogs are an aggressive AT than MT, so that makes me more curious in your answer. Granted the tread depth/pattern are considerably different between the two, so I imagine a lot stem from this alone.
The GD are the original Goodyear MTR pattern. Not an AT. I read that too but its the same mud pattern as the MTR tire swing we made 15 years ago. No swamper for sure but an mt.
Why...
I was thrilled to ditch the 20+ lbs per tire because you can feel a difference at take off. Its nice not to pick up an mount them. Its amazing not to hear the annoying drone of them. I obviously do not like my guard dogs. They are a huge part of why my rig has been neglected for a year. They may go back on but this little test affirmed my belief that they are shitty tires.
Why...
I am not sure on an AT because my mission quite possibly demands more than they offer. I like the looks of an MT. I feel more confident in my rig on mud tires.
Truly unsure what part of my post you are asking why to but hopefully one of those thoughts covers it.
Oh and since its after midnight... today I just bought a set of 36 13.5 16 IROCs to play with.
