Body Lift

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Hey guys new to the site so still trying to navigate it. I apologize if this thread is misplaced. Anyhow, I am on the verge of purchasing a Markmc 3" body lift, but the one thing that keeps getting in my way is the outrageous labor cost's shops have for a body lift install. I was wondering anyone who is familiar with this process in the Georgia or Alabama area could help me out with this. I am not anywhere familiar with being able to put this lift on myself!

Thanks

I'm in Canada, so I can't help lol. But I had never done it before either. It was really easy and I did it myself. If I could do it, you could do it.

Seems promising, I've only worked on a 98 jeep wrangler before so the 2007 almost scares me haha

I felt the same way with my 07. Trust me, you can do it. Just have a friend there to help out if need be. Its also a really good way to learn more about your truck.

I have mine on preorder now through high voltage. From what I know its not really hard just mainly time consuming. It will be my first body lift ive done :)

Do you already have your suspension lift? Or are not going to do one?

I agree with everyone, its really pretty simple, just be sure to have a cut off wheel or a sawzall, a jack that is able to lift the body high enough, a hammer to tap the blocks into place, if you cant lift it higher, a screwdriver to line up the bolt holes, and a 1/2" drill bit with a matching drill. I had to go buy a bit at 8:45 at night to finish it up. The whole process took me and a buddy about 6-7 hours, with food breaks, and various distractions from his 7 kids. The biggest pain of the entire thing was the steering extension. Make sure you have someone holding the wheel, or something to hold it in place so it doesn't move, otherwise you risk breaking the clockspring in the column. Also, when you lift the drivers side, take it slow and watch the brake lines under the hood, they may need a little massaging down to not stress the lines, mine only needed maybe 1/4-1/2" adjustment down to regain some of bend back in the steel braided part of the line.

Thats what I learned from doing mine, after your done, you can stand back and look at the truck and say, "I did that, and saved myself a few hundred bucks."

Yeah I have a 2.5" suspension lift right now. I also have a brush guard that I don't want to ditch just yet. I've heard making those work with a body lift is quite the pain though.

Im in Ringgold up by Chattanooga. Your north of Cumming right?

Im sure if you have any mechanical ability, youll do fine installing the body lift. Just take your time and follow the instructions.

Yeah I'm about 25 minutes north of Cumming. One problem is that Im in school so I don't have the space or the tools to do a job like a body lift without a someone with a jack and such.

Yeah Im sure in that area you will get price gouged. I used to live in Cumming and everything seemed over priced there. I have a sister in law's boyfriend that lives out there that is a mechanic. Ill see if he can do it where he works or something.

Thanks! Every little bit helps. Just dying to get my rig bigger. Bigger tires are calling my name, I'm sure you know how I feel.
