Z71 and 87 or 88 Springs

I have Marks 2.5 lift kit. Looking to go a bit higher. Looking at doing Z71 rear with Skyjacker #H7030 and 87 or 88 springs up front with Blistien HD's with Marks recommendation for the shocks. Is there any other upgrades I should do at the same time or mods?

Buy a dozen CV half shaft assemblies and limiting straps.

All joking aside, i'm sure there a few members running this combo without tearing up their cv axles. Iirc, the main danger is snapping them at full lock on big tires. Avoid full lock and you'll be fine. Just invest in a pair of spare boots and some grease and flip your UCAs. You may also want to consider an adjustable panhard bar and longer rear control arms.

It won't be run hard offroad mainly driving in fields light trails around a farm. I am still bottoming out in some places

Then skip the 87 or 88s and BL the truck with 33s.

Thats what I'm running (87's w/ Marks lift/ HD shocks up front and Z71's/ Marks lift/ BDS shocks rear) , only difference would be my rear shocks are BDS. No problems here, haven't even had the boot come off and fling grease yet... knock on wood.

I'm personally happy with it, might be stiff for some. Also I'm running with the front sway bar disconnected and think it rides better like that as well.

And yes I am planning on going the the meet in June.

FWIW I had zero CV issues until I locked the front diff and put 35's on. I run a spacer lift in front + 88 springs.

What size tires are you running right now?

I am running Marks new lift with 89 springs and Blistins HD shocks. I only tore up factory CV's, after I feplaced them I aint got no problem. I am also running 315/70/17's all the way around, with everything that Mike had to offer at the time that I was there.

Personally, going to be running Mark's new lift soon, with 86 or 87 (prefer 86, but I think they're more expensive) and aftermarket boots if the stock ones tear. This setup is going to have 34" OD tires (255/85/16) and with all the research, I think I'll be fine. Supporting mods for this include planned purchases of an adjustable panhard bar, BDS or Skyjacker shocks in rear, and 2" longer control arms in rear. During install, the UCAs will be flipped.

Are you planning on losing the factory rear bumper? You won't clear it with 34's and 2" longer LCAs.

I have yet to rub in the rear with 35's on the standard length arms, and I have more down travel than most.

I see no real problem with the stock CV joints. Any breakage experienced I believe to be normal with the kind of wheeling some of the members here partake in. I am going to be running Marks lift with Z71 rear springs and 87 front springs. If I don't replace my shafts, I am going to pull them to replace the boots and repack the grease during the install of the new setup. Running 285/70/17s on stock Envoy rims, I foresee no abnormal issues.

Agreed. They are holding up well in 99% of circumstances.

Sounds like my suspension set up, even got the 285/75/16's too. And when I wheel its a good amount of rock crawling, so I certainly am not the easiest on my truck and really have yet to see any problems.

You shuld be ok from my perspective. I haven't had any issues running basically the same set up. Im probley making a 3/8 spacer for mine also as soon as I get home from vac. There's a lol sagging with the bumper and winch....
