Water pump bolts

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by rjwz28 » Wed Apr 16, 2014 6:53 pm

Hey, when I changed my water pump I was working with bad torque specs and broke the head off of the last bolt... where can I find new bolts other than the local stealer? I'd like to replace all of them since I know I overtorqued each and every one.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure there is a torque spec for most all of our OEM bolts. However I use the 3/8" wratchet... GoodNuff torque spec for water pump bolts. Lol I'm aware we have some torque spec fanatics on this forum. I tend to go by feel.
It's not how fast you go. It's how quick you get there. Lifted TBSS Build

Yes, 89 inch-pounds

Unfortunately, there is also a spec out there for 22lb/ft or something, which is wrong...

Yup, there are torque specs for damn near everything...

However, now that I've sheared off the head of this bolt and have to replace it, does anybody know where I can get more???

Take one of the others out (hopeful not breaking again) and go to ace hardware or other such store and match it and get a metric grade 10.9 version. I am sure you should be able to find something that will work. Most hardware stores have those thread matching boards to help size it up.

I was hoping to replace with OEM (or equivalent) but that's a good idea... I found the bolt size in another thread but haven't yet come up with a source for the bolt, so I may have to go that route

if you pull a bolt, it may be marked so you can find the grade and match it.
