PT-1921 is the part number I have saved for the locker.

EDIT: looking up that part number brought me to this listed as "GM 8.5 8.6 traction devices"

Zero. Its basically always locked, and only unlocks the faster spinning wheel.

Everything I ever read said the carrier bearings were the only difference between the 8.5 and 8.6...
Guess it looks like I've got more reading to do...

Yea I read all the same stuff I just know a company that makes money off selling their products will market all applications for their products to sell as much as they can... so I knew something had to be different. Even the 8.6 has 3 separate open carrier designs which is why the no slip listed after 07 requires a new housing. Weird thing is my axle I was told was an 08 and going by the casting number and design of the carrier I don't need a new housing. Im stoked my tires should be in tomorrow I just set up my rear ring and pinion tonight and all my ducks should be in line to finally piece it all together. Im gonna run 2wd for a week atleast bc I know I have no time to tackle that ft diff. Lol I need to break my rear ring and pinion in anyway

My axle is from a 06, so if I have the 1073 casting the 8.5 lockright will work? Or am I reading that wrong?

EARLY 8.6 CASE
USE WITH CASE CASTING NUMBER# 0749. WINDOWS ON THE
SIDES OF THE CASE ARE BOTH THE SAME SIZE 3 3/4"

MID 8.6 CASE
USE WITH CASE CASTING NUMBERS# 7875 & 1073.
WINDOWS ARE NOT THE SAME SIZE 3 3/4" & 1 1/2"

LATE 8.6 CASE
THEY ARE MADE TO FIT CASES WHICH WE KNOW AS
40048044 AND THE CASE WILL HAVE A CASTING # 8064..... the late won't work
