James I assumed that the self tapping screws would not be the best thing for longevity. Used the JB weld to hopefully make a nice bond with the threads, will most likely switch to bolts and nuts in the next month or so to make it permanent.

The sheet metal is like tin back there. That's the problem. Might as well put a screw threw a can.

I did all the steppers in my Dash this last weekend.. Everything came out great, except the Speedo. Its still doing the same thing, just moves in one direction, and very jerky. Not smooth like the other gauges. I hope I didn't fry the board, I haven't done too much soldering on boards. It looks fine, I'm hoping/wishing/praying its a bad sending unit..... Anyone have any experience on this?

I've soldered a couple of things in 40 years.

The sensor being bad would screw up shift points and a LOT of other stuff. If you had a scan tool or the Torque app to look at the data, you could confirm the sensor.

A needle that jerks and goes only one way could be a bad solder connection or a mechanically binding stepper. Gotta take it apart again either way.

I switched it out with another new stepper already to make sure the first one wasn't defective, and made sure the solder connections were good (no pits, missing solder, and all the way around the pin on the solder pad). So probably burnt the board.. Bummer, I did so well on the others :(

Yeah the drill bit did not take long to go though for the pilot holes. On a good note I will already have the pilot holes drilled for when I do switch to bolts.

I also need to ground it better, picked up a ton of static on a few channels, others were crystal clear. The placement is honestly perfect, I can adjust anything I need to without looking away from the road. The screen does get washed out with sunlight, but that is fine when I am driving.

Ordered the fifth tire so I can do the first rotation with all 5.

Was an eye opener when the set of 4 tires for the TDI Jetta I ordered for my parents cost less than one of mine.

Car tires are always so much cheaper, I think 4 tires for the Jetta with 18" wheels was like $400 installed. I have not even priced tires around your size, I know it's a bigger chunk of change than the ones I am pricing.

The tires for the GXP aren't cheap if that makes you feel any better.

These are just the little 205 16, so they were cheap. My F-Body tires cost a decent little bit but it is crazy how much tire prices have gone up since I started buying big mud tire 15 years ago. $100 each for swampers was expensive, now I would buy truck loads at that.

Tire prices do seem to have soared recently.

Doing some research, seems there was a rubber boom recently, through '09 and '10. Prices really skyrocketed then, and I think tire companies have yet to bring their prices down. My bet is that since tire prices reached a new norm during that time, the companies have been enjoying some extra profit, and are a bit reluctant to reduce that margin, especially on the larger tires that aren't as "price driven" as the passenger tire market.

I got those ATRs for a steal. I was assuming it was a misprint or old stock so I dtd price match. Granted they are not like the tires most of you run. Purchasing new ones spring next year after the wedding. I know I'm getting 265/75/16, debating on brand right now.

Inspected components, new shaft seals, re-greased and added zerk fitting to spare front disconnect. Replacement front axle should be here tomorrow.

Can you a get side pic of it mounted? Looking at getting one from detour that swings to the side. They also have a 2" adapter that bolts to the straight portion of the hitch, however I have yet to examine the hitch to see if it will work.

It looks good though.
