Was getting a death wobble at freeway speeds (I take surface streets to go 8 miles to work), but I needed the cargo room to pick up my brother, wife, and little rat dog for his winter visit from Wisconsin. So I took off the worn-out General Grabbers and spacers and put on the 29" OEM tires (I saved on the OEM rims) that hadn't been used in 8 years and less than 10K miles.

Oh, they look dumb but ride nicely. The wobble's root cause is a worn inner tie rod end I already have the spare for.

I've heard two reports of death wobble in these recently. I really thought that was only a SFA issue. Is it possible that your caster is off that much?

And I like the desert-mud-brown color that you chose for the rear bumper...

Funny, one of the reasons I got rid of the Audi is the timing belt on it was a regular maintenance item! I had seen two separate threads on the Audiforums about guys whose timing belts snapped while going down the road, and poof went the motor. WTH?? Germans.

I had a Passat, biggest pos ever. Saw a guy selling one on expo saying how greqt they are, he had just put a new timing belt on at 80k and it had small vacuum leak, all the same crap was happing or already happened to mine and it was gonna cost a fortune to fix it all, feel sorry for whoever bought it, I didn't say anything cause I think its against the rules over there to hamstring someone's for sale thread, even if it is a public service. Not like the guy was trying to be a fraud, he probably didn't know how bad it would get. I doubt I'll be buying German again.

I had the pressure washer out this weekend to clean out the dog kennel so I knocked the mud off of mine.

It's not what I did to my GMT it's what a Southern Delaware whitetail did. While heading home tonight I suddenly came up on 4 whitetail playing frogger across the highway. I slammed the brakes so not to hit the big one in front of me when one to my left decided to body slam my side passenger door. It put a pretty good bent in the door but I should be able to remove the inner door panel and pop it out.
That's OK because in about 4 weeks I'm gonna have my revenge when I drop a couple brown eyed white neck high tails . I've been known to talk the whole family out!

Well part of my order from Moogs showed up today. The upper control arms have the bushings already installed and look pretty solid. Curious to see what the results with the lowers will be. Hopefully not the same that Moot's has had.

Also installed my LED tails. They're bright at frack and hopefully will keep FL drivers from re-ending me.

I ordered the Moog because you ordered the Mevotechs and said they whore out in lickity split time.

I know a few folks where confused about the Moogs, the part #'s listed on several sites and descriptions don't indicate whether the bushings are there or are not there.

Glad I stayed away from the Mevotech stuff then. I just put the Moog UCA's on a couple weeks ago. The OEM bushings where separating from the housing and pulling the bolt through the middle. Nice and tight now, still have the squeak though. Going to just replace the LCA mount plate as I did the ball joints and lower strut mounts already. Wish I could have put the Prothane bushings in, but without a press and not being willing to pay a shop to do it I just bought the UCA's and sold the bushings to The Roadie. He would put such parts to far better use anyways.

Now I have to find the source of vibration coming from the front. Everything has been replaced except the inner tie rods, the LCA bushings and the CV's. I am going to do the swap to the 2500 tie rods and the LCA brackets at the same time (next spring) so I can do one alignment. Pretty sure its in the tie rods.

Those tails do look good Mike. Very similar to mine, however I like those better. You mess with the hyperflash issue yet? I might try something next time I pull the grill.

Started building a storage drawer for the back. All the cuts were done with a circular saw since I couldn't wrangle the sheet 1/2" x 4ft x 8ft mdf. Will have a drawer for my tools and equipment that stay in the vehicle. Tomorrow pilot holes and install slides after assembling the drawer.


Also just about done. Just need to mount the hi lift mount.

Installation of the RadFlo's went well also installed Upper/ Lower Ball joints and upside down and backwards on the UCA. But in the processes I noticed I need to replace my CV axles, inner / outer tie rods, sway bars links and while I'm at it I may do the front a wheel bearing hubs

The ball joint press I borrowed from Advance Auto did not have the proper adapters to press out the lower ball joint so it took awhile for me to find a shim thick enough to make up the difference.
"Just to clarify, the pipe wrench jaws are being used as a shim to take up space. There was no turning of the PW at all."
