I'm running 285/75/17s with a 3" suspension lift, flipped and swapped UCAs and 1.5' spacers. I had to do some heavy cutting to get rid of rubbing but I have no issues. The only time it gets sketchy is when the wheel is turned to full lock. I get some minor rubbing on the frame.

I sure hope so! If you can't, Im really in trouble running 305's! The above comments about cutting the fenders and wheel spacers are the keys. I do agree with Moots though, do some research. The answers to those kinds of questions ARE here. Just gotta do a little reading.

The description "285" isn't enough to determine the full specs of the tire. We need all three proposed numbers to help. You will be needing wheel spacers almost certainly if your tire diameter is easy traditional max of 33". My 285/75-16 are at 33".

I'll let you know. I maybe running 295/75/16 Nitto Terra Grappler?? Just haven't made up my mind yet. My end goal is to run 35's 8-)

Oh Dammann35 I'm digging those tow mirrors. What year Chevy pickup were they for? That's on my list after the tires.

315/45-20 are only 31.2" diameter, for instance. But if you guys all know each other's tire diameter from the width number only, carry on. I just don't see the shorthand being useful for noobs, future searchers, or me, for instance. May I suggest 315(34") to save one keystroke?

315/70/17 Is a great size. It easily fits over SS brakes... And rarely rubs. Of coarse as everyone else has done.... I had to use the 1.5" wheel spacer... Wheels with proper backspacing... Cut the fenders... And I have yet to reinstall/cut my inner fenders.

As TheRoadie pointed out we need more info than the width. 285/75-16 ares 33 for example. And not everyone wants 35's on their truck. There are days when I think 33's might better match my goals.

To answer your original question, the control arms are just to center the wheel. Erik claims to have no rubbing and he's running the same size as me without them.

No rubbing in the rear at all. I've rubbed the frame lightly in the front while flexed. None at level. I'm not sure I can flex the Radflo far enough to rub. Kinda why I want to take some turns back out.

Then no, you don't need adjustable control arms. Trimming may be required as needed. Spacers are mandatory.

I ran 285 75 16 with suspension and body lift plus 1.3 adaptors. Nothing done to rear control arms.

they've always worked for me.

you can also get away without a body lift but way more trimming.

I think if I was going to pull one vs the other, I would keep the BL and drop the suspension lift. It just seems like a good bit less work and you have to figure out what to do with your rear bumper.

Where did this come from? There is no mention of any lift removal.
