Jonbo, that sort of thing needs its own thread. That shouldn't get lost in a long-running bottomless pit like this. Post up all the info and pics that you can!

I pulled the front diff today. I am getting pretty good at this, only took me 3 hours to have it out of the truck. I am installing the new diff with the 4.10's tomorrow evening. I am expecting to have the new rear axle in next week and ready to make the trip to Indianapolis for the Jamboree next weekend.

Busy day! I was turned away from one tire shop because they didn't want to damage my wheels, another wouldn't get to me for 3 hours, and a third wanted $130 to swap out 2 tires!!! So, I swapped out the tires myself. I finished up the mounting of my winch. Last, I took out my rear seats! I guess if I'm going to be ready for Tecore I better hurry up. lol

I have the capability to service my AC system, so I remove the AC compressor, alternator, and the pulley above it. Also remove the fan and fan shroud. Remove the front drive shaft from the front diff and push it up out of the way the best you can. Pull the spline disconnect so that you can pull the intermediate shaft. Loosen the engine mounting bolts as much as you can without removing them completely. Lift the motor as much as possible to have better access to the lower right bolt on the diff. Remove the drivers side half shaft and then the four bolts on the diff. Pull it up and out the void from the compressor and alternator.

I have not tried it, but I think there would be room to leave the compressor hooked up but remove it from the block to move it out of the way.

That almost sounds like more trouble than dropping the pan and rack. Wish there was a clearly easier method.

The rack sucks to remove, I have done it once and it had to be one of the hardest repairs I have done, and I have done a full motor swap on this platform!

I wasn't sure what the easiest route would be, but I opted to drop the rack and pan. It honestly didn't seem that bad.

What makes removing the rack difficult?
