Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

by Blazintrails03 » Wed May 15, 2013 11:12 pm

Got pulled over by the cops about an hour ago for no tag lights. Guy was cool and let me off with a fix it warning since I told him I was on my way to Walmart anyways and I would buy new bulbs at the same time. Got home and replaced the bulbs in the dark and surprise surprise still not working. Guess I'll be playing with a Power Probe tomorrow in the daylight.

I like Best Buy, the 3 I have been to near me are great. Their prices are competitive and usually the folks know a little bit more about what they are talking about than the folks at WalMart.

I had an issue with a tower a few years back. I suspected the power supply. I took it to the Geek squad and they hooked it up and confirmed it was the power supply. I was able to buy one and take it home and install.

Their prices are very competitive considering atleast the stores around me will price match amazon. $60 otterbox case for my ipad mini and best buy price matched amazons price of like $30

The way it was described to me, was that they started price matching Amazon, cause they were losing so much in sales. They are slowly going the way of Circuit City. Before they started price matching, which hasn't been that long, people would go in to see the actual product then go home and order it on line, if they liked it. Even when I worked for them, I did the same thing. Some things were even cheaper online, than they were with my discount.

Josh was over this morning, and him and I had a conversation similar to this.

I was wondering the same... I've done it once, but it was because of shoddy wiring, and no fuse... so my wire became the fuse. I learned that lesson early on.

Moots, greymatter and I helped james02 change his oil, transfer case oil, front diff oil and we figured out the 4wd wasn't working and it's related to the disconnect. We'll work on more oil changes soon and get the disconnect squared away.

on my truck it was noticed my rear hatch glass wouldn't open and it was binding on the pass side. It turned out the air shock was rusted to the body of the shock. A few twists let it extend after it was removed from the truck. Cleaned up the heavily pitted rod and a new pair is en route. I also started mocking up the rear bumper in foam board and started drinking lots of beer. It was a moderately productive day.

I never disconnected the battery when I was working with the fusebox area under the rear seats. While I was undoing the bolt that holds the main line down, it caused the current to "cycle rapidly" as described by Donny. This cycling blew the box that the wires go into as it couldn't handle losing and getting power. Granted it did this with 3 "cycles," but whatever. All fixed now.

Onto the Throttle body!!

Ordered some parts. Time to fix those brakes, ball joints and replace this crappy BDS stuff.

Now I just need to track down a SS rear end.
Once lifted 03 Trailblazer on 35's, gave it up to travel the USA with my family.

dropped mine off at the stealership yesterday to get the fuel sender fixed and have them check the DDM.
They called this morning and it is ready, $135 total.
When I pick it up I'll go ahead and pick up some AutoTrac II so I hopefully don't have to see them for a few more years.

Replaced spark plugs, and cleaned the throttle body. My 08 TB only has 63k but since I am the second owner with no records from pervious owner, I say what the heck. Followed the videos from MAY03LT over on GMTNATION. Only wish he would have said that the truck would idle ruff for while after resetting the PCM and the check eng light would cycle on and off for few minutes during the relearning process. Was little nervous for few minutes. ;) thanks MAY03 LT for good videos. Next front, rear axle and transfer case. But that is for another night.
