Look, I promise to behave and be the super awesome wife that everyone likes, as long as I get to drive for at least some of it. I was really good on our trip out West because of all the amazing sights to see. I'll even run around and take epic shots, but a girl's gotta drive. :D

What? That you let him drive your ride for all of the work he puts into it for you? ;) Not really... hehe

I suppose, even though I'm working on it with him every step of the way. It is my DD, so I can't complain too much. The looks and gawks never cease to entertain.

If I can find somebody to split driving with me, and Kyle can find somebody to split with him, I'll be by myself. If neither of us can, then one will ride with the other, I'd guess.

I've been contemplating on whether or not I should try this out before college roles around. The truck is in decent shape (offroad wise) with Duratrac 10/3 ply, an open 4x4, and it has about 2 inches of lift all the way around.

However I'm afraid of the fact that I don't have a locker, a full size spare, or a rad plate will cause me to be more of a nuisance then help\ and hold the trip up some.

From the vets honest opinion, would it be wise for me to sit this out with my current setup? The only upgrade that may happen is a self fabricated radiator skid. My first attempt failed, but I could get a rad skid together if need be after looking at a couple other designs.

Thanks for you thoughts

Locker is not needed. Skid plate is very much recommended. Why on earth do you not have a fulle size spare or at least close? Find a rim and a used tire for a little bit of money on CL. You do not need a MT or even AT tire for a spare, but you will definitely want a spare.

Whoops, sorry I wasn't clear on the spare tire. I do indeed have the factory full size tire, I just don't have a full size at tire.

Get a used one, I traded my barely used stock size spare for a good used 33" straight up.

You sound fine, plenty of people before you have done tecore without a rad skid or even an oversized spare tire. Heck, we've had a few trucks with street tires - although that was the first trip - I think erosion has made some of the tracks a bit rougher.

But honestly, its not a grossly challenging track. If you're new to off-road, it will seem intense, but its really not bad. If you don't have a radiator skid, just make sure you pick good lines.

And don't worry about holding us up. Learning is half of what tecore is all about.

Stock height, I would NOT go without a radiator skid, but lifted on larger tires, as long as you pick good lines (we can spot), and go slow (so as not to bounce down on the plastic radiator end tank on a rock), there's no problem.

No joke, your radiator would have had the whole bottom smashed all to hell.

Man, I need to get my RTT hoist mounted in the garage!

Just Saturday I was finally able to spend some time getting it organized.

I made my packing list today. Got a couple small odds and ends to do to my truck.

By the way; If anyone thinks I am making a mistake by bringing my truck or feel that a situation where we can't proceed as a group because of me is likely; Please speak up!
