Which wheel should I use?

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

Ok so I have 2 sets of Fuel Off-Road Hostage wheels. One set is 9" wide with a 4.5" backspace; the other set is 9" wide with a 5" backspace. Which set would be best to use? I'm sure there isn't a huge difference between them but I have to choose.

Also, I'll be running them with a set of Treadwright 315s if that matters.

If you have them...bolt them up and take some measurements. That's the best way to know.

Well I'm trying to avoid the extra work. Also, I just took a better look at the wheels and it turns out 1 set is 9" wide with a 4.5" backspace even though I ordered 8.5/5.25.

I think I'll go with the 5" backspace to avoid the extra tire sticking out.

Its kind of a funny story. I ordered the first set from an ebay store. A few days later I got an email from FedEx that my order had been shipped, then the next day I got an email from the store I ordered them from saying that they would have to order them directly from Fuel but Fuel had them on backorder. They offered me a refund so I took it and assumed the FedEx notification was just a mistake.

So I went to called around until I found another supplier that had the wheels in stock and ordered them. Today I came home and I had 2 sets of wheels sitting by more door. One set delivered by FedEx, the other by UPS. I called the place that I canceled my order with and they said they canceled the order and got refunded by fuel. So I figured Fuel made some mistake and sent me the wheels even though the order was canceled. I called Fuel and their system doesn't show that they shipped anything to me.

Quite frankly I have no idea what to do with the phantom wheels, so I'm going to choose 1 set and wait to see if anyone contacts me to clear up the mistake.

I installed my control arms and panhard bar with no problems. The tires are mounted on the wheels but I ran into 1 issue... the wheels are 6x5.5 so I have to wait for the adapters to come from Mark to put them on the truck. I never thought to check since I ordered 6x5.0 but I should have know since the offset was different than I ordered. Hopefully the adapters don't take too long, the anticipation will kill me.

Here are a few photos:

I'll have to adjust the control arms once I figure out where I need the 35s to be.

The panhard bar is extended too far now. My tires are further out on the driver side now. I might also put my 2.5" spacers back to get more clearance on the tires. That or get a set of Skyjacker springs.

Next to the 285 BFGs. Much bigger.

Their resting place for now.

I was going to flip the UCA but I couldn't get it off. When I installed my lift both sides came off easy, today neither side would budge. I'll soak them with penatrant and take another shot at it when the spacers come in.

Looks like a pretty good set up. Do you have a build thread? What's your lift/spring/shock combo for the rear and front? And I really like the control arms and panhard bar, who is the manufacturer?

What valving do you having in those Bilsteins? I see your running factory hardware, are you getting any clunking from the rear?

I don't have a build thread yet. The rear is stock springs with Mark's 2" spacer, I'll probably switch that out with skyjacker springs. The front is stock springs with Marks 3" spacer which is probably getting swapped out with Radflo coilovers. The control arms and panhard bar are from Massive.

I'm not sure of the valving. They're part number 24-185783. I'm not sure what you mean by clunking but they don't top or bottom out.

Ok, you have the application specific 5100 Bilsteins. Your valving is softer than some if us running the 5125's ( universal's) with a higher valving. It gave me a clunking noise due to the factory hardware being too small for the bushings, we had to buy 1/2" bolts and toss the OEM's out. The stiffer valving controls the Z71 springs nicely.

Oh I know what you mean now. Mine did that at first when I didn't have the washers. The bolt is way too small for the shock, but I think over-tightening the bolt made the washers clamp down on the shock bushing. I haven't heard it move since.
