He meant what a lot of us are thinking. This may be a GMTNation.com issue, since it's not really an activity we do for OFFROADED trucks.
this is truck discussion ain't it?
Yes, but remember the mission we're focused on here at ORTB.
or should it have went in troubleshooting too? my thread about a growlin' noise was moved there. sorry, i'm a noob! it'll take a bit to get used to this forum.
The culture of the forum is a bit more than starting threads in the right area. It's also about thinking: "Is this an OFFROADING sort of issue?"
the roadie and gotspeed1, by power goodies i meant engine modifications, performance enhancers....... whatever else you want to call gettin' more power out of it.
We're not dumb. We just don't get why you think you need to spend money on them. In 4LO, I run out of traction or ground clearance FAR before I run out of torque. That's what we think about in this OFFROADING forum. See the common item in my replies? Are you already full-up on recovery, communication and emergency survival supplies for aggressive offroading?
back on the topic.......
yeh, the only reason i want to remove the rev limiter is the exact reason chevycrew mentioned...... i like to crack the loudpipes open once in a while! (read that as all the time!)
OK, now (if you're not being sarcastic) you've got me pissed off. Chevycrew was, of course, being sarcastic. Making excessive and unnecessary noise on a trail is just plain impolite, annoying, and shows a complete disregard for the Tread Lightly principles. Ever heard of them? Making noise in neutral is a juvenile thing.
i have plans for a 40 series flowmaster with 3inch single in and 2 1/4 dual outlets.
with the rev limiter kickin' in at 3200rpm it doesn't create enough "cackle" to suite me.
I would disinvite you from any trail ride I'm leading if you did that shit on the trail. Grow the //// up.
i've noticed the rev limit in low range too. that does makes a lot of sense to me actually.
You ever USE 4LO? Where 4HI just doesn't get you through? On a real trail?
it should sound a good bit more serious than the ticked off bumble bee sound of a fart canned rice rocket.
Why does it matter what it sounds like?
the main things i want tuned with the pcm will be throttle response, tire size, .......and the no load rev limit raised a bit.
