WHOA, I didnt realize they could do that. Can you just remove the pump and lines and plug the inlets in the engine compartment? Or leave it all connected and the tune will just compensate and remove the possibility of codes?

List of things I have done in the past month plus things needed to be done...
Front driver and pass wheel hub and bearing assemblies, driver side lbj, driver/pass tie rod ends, driver side cv shaft, figure out why my 4wd is broken, change all the fluids, fix pinion seal on rear axle, replace front and rear driveshafts. Woooo I'm so excited to spend all that money and change all that crap. Moral of the story, mud pits that go over halfway up the doors are not to be driven in just looked at.

I left it and am having code deleted.

My Air Pump Quit Whining the other day - which we know is a bad sign. Then this morning I got the dreaded 410 code on my way to work.

SONOVA!!!! 3rd Air Pump in less than a year, wish I could just rip the damn thing out and somehow bypass the check engine light.

Now that you mention it, I remember hearing the old SAI pump, but I haven't in a couple years. I wonder what happened, and I wonder why I haven't gotten a code.

Really would like to know how a mud pit...no different than i have been through...would destroy all that esp the driveshafts.

Consider yourself lucky. Mine has coded pretty much immediately once every pump has quit whining at startup. I even drilled holes in the lines to drain the water since my last install. I consider that air pump setup to be one of the dumbest systems GM could have ever put in.

Well I got stuck in the pit, it was above the halfway mark on my doors, the rear driveshaft is unrelated, just has a dent that is wearing down the u-joints quicker because it's off balance a little. Front driveshaft could just be because mud wore it down by getting in the cracks or just from age. Hubs are because of the mud getting into the bearings and eating away the grease same with the ball joint. 4wd broke because the mud got into the actuator and killed that, hoping its just the electronic actuator that broke. Luckily no water was able to reach the fuse block in the back because water was seeping in. Gotta rip out the carpet eventually...

Sorry I missed this thread for a while. Who told you that number? The front diff is 1.7 PINTS, not quarts. 0.8 liters. It's in the Owner's manual, but IIRC the 2002 manual had a typo, so that can't be the source of confusion.

No alternative than to try JB Welding a smaller bolt to the end (very unlikely to work) or drill and use a left-handed screw extractor. Recommend plugging up the CPAS hole to avoid debris.

The CPAS is a solenoid that switches pressurized oil from place to place. I'd be very worried that without it in the hole, exhaust valve timing would suffer. If it was in the hole, pressure might try to force it out. If you had some other way to keep it retained in the hole, it would be drivable.

congrats Caleb. When I first saw your pic I got a little sick to my stomach thinking how painful that would be to remove.

It actually wasn't all that bad. Took us about 10-20minutes.

In case anyone else does this. We drilled it out. We had to finagle the Window Shield Washer Fliud, and the Power stering pump. We had to move the Power Steering Pump towards the Radiator, past where it mounts to get a drill in there. We used a 5/64" drill bit. That was the PERFECT size for the job!

Nicely done. Your training is progressing well. I still think I would have tried a screw extractor before drilling it out though.

Bill, I don't think you COULD drive with the CPAS not in the hole... well not for long... you'd be spewing oil!

I determined my truck needs a head gasket. It started consuming anti-freeze at a very incredible rate. And it wasn't leaving any of it anywhere. No signs of it leaking. And Yesterday i found water in the oil. Bought the parts today, hopefully i can bang it out this weekend. But who knows when I'll have time.

hopefully you caught it quick enough that the coolant hasn't caused any issues in the lower end.
Have you figured out which head?
