Im more of a maybe. Ive had a busy summer and need to make some funds available for this winter for a few projects I have in mind. Plus Va is a bit far for me if I have a rear axle blow up on me....

The way I look at it, 100 miles away or 400 miles away if you aren't at home you still have a mess. It is a long tow or a trail fix either way. Besides you would have a pit crew to get you up and going quickly.By the time you got back with an axle, the pit crew would have your old axle out!

Looks like $300+ in fuel alone. Will have to check finances as i have a bit of debt to take care of first.
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

If Matt doesn't go to split gas with you, I'm certain we can work something out, like in the past...

But a 100 mile tow is a hell of a lot easier to swallow than a 550 mile tow.

100 mile tow is free w AAA but a 4-500 mile tow is gonna be hundreds of dollars if you can even find someone willing to do it.

I thought of how I would get towed home in a worst case, best and cheapest would be rent full size truck or SUV and rent a tow dolly should be around $200 total.

Tow dolly from Uhaul seems to be $49 for 2 days. Add a small uhaul truck in for a total of $217 (with mileage for 200 miles... if your distance is more, quote it yourself). Not bad!

Slightly more than a dollar a mile aint bad at all.

A flat bed auto-transport is roughly $75 for the 2 day rental, IIRC.

I would get the dolly from U-haul but it would be cheaper to rent a truck from enterprise with a tow package.

Will your truck be street legal? Or is the trailer just to save fuel?!

I am an inch off from street legal. Might do a full cage inside and out but. Towing it down with the 2500hd I'll get 15 to 17 at 60 to 65. If I break something then I can just drag it back.
