Rough Country Install Help

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Okie dokie guys so I'm reading the install manual on me rough country lift kit and it appears that they are using 3/8" nuts to tighten the top of the new strut mount.

What concerns me is the fact that:

A: The upper strut studs are being replaced and used by "self-clinching" ones. Is this "self-clinching" concept similar to what you would see when you replace a wheel stud?

B: The nuts being used to fasten the new upper strut bolts are NOT lock nuts. Would I be able to substitute the supplied 3/8" nuts with lock nuts? Will doing so cause any kind of damage to the lift kit?

Many thanxs bros! :excited: :excited: :excited:

The stock hardware has put up with me. Just sayin.

Replace it with whatever you want. I used grade 8 bolts when I ran shims.

well according to the directions you need to "clinch" in the new strut mount bolts. I guess i'm a little confused about what you mean by using the stock stuff. could you clarify a little please?

he is saying the stock hardware in the kit was fine for the standard install.
I bought my kit used with no real instructions and just tightened everything "good and tight".
My used kit was missing the bolts and nuts so I bought lock nuts but ended up using the stock nuts.
I've had no issues but don't beat on mine like Donny does.
