Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

Room for a (mostly) mall crawler?

I've been reading this site along with Trailvoy to build my knowledge before lifting my Trailblazer. Now that it's mostly done, I wanted to register so I can follow along officially. I've really appreciated how much everyone posts, know that it helped me in my lifting quest to complete the job relatively efficiently. There's a great community behind the GMT-360. My 2002 Trailblazer is now equipped with the Liftmeister suspension lift, Z71's, spacers and 32's among other bits and built really only for snow duty and the occasional trail.

Previously I did a lot with the GM 3800 platform including building my own 400whp '98 Grand Prix and another nearly 500whp turbocharged '00, among other platforms, and I enjoy turning a wrench in spare time. I also have a 1986 Mustang SVO Competition Prepared, and my wife's plastic 2004 Saturn Ion.

Anyway, hi.

Well.... if you've at least posted the mall-rated sticker as your avatar and don't plan on asking us about which Super Swampers will fit best on your 20" rims, then I guess we won't have to kick you out :finger:

Welcome to the site.

So wait, how loud are super swampers? I drive mostly highway and my wife wouldn't like a lot of noise, but they look pretty boss. How do they handle in the rain? And can I get them in a 24"?

:raspberry:

That didn't sound like a joke... if you add swampers without just cause... :slap:

Just remember, we are about functional off roading here.

Super swampers on 24's aren't functional? :?

I was kidding James. I've been reading your posts and website for a long time. ;) As a matter of fact, your experience with 255/75/17 was a primary reason I chose that size for my new Silent Armor's, and of course, with my Z71 rear springs.

I was kinda afraid to post pics of my show poodle here, but what the heck. Snapped these quick yesterday after cleaning her up on Sunday:

Full functionality mod list:

K&N Drop-in Filter
Full LiftMeister suspension lift
Front Bilstein HD shocks
Z71 rear springs+shocks
1.5" Fred Goeske wheel adapters
255/75/17 Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor

I have a couple appearance things like 4300k HID's. Not much there really because I don't care much about mods that aren't functional. I have the HID's only because I enjoy the extra light, hence the 4300 and not 6000 or some crazy blue. She's my daily driver, especially in the winter, and I occasional haul ridiculous amounts of computer server equipment in it, among lots of other load types. I bought the Trailblazer as a replacement for a '99 F250 after I stopped pulling race cars but still needed something to haul with, and preferred an SUV because computer equipment and an open bed don't mix. ;) And because the newer Explorers were IRS and neutered with terrible engine combination's... IRS on a truck? Huh?

I'm not sure how cross-posting is taken here, but here's my "build" thread I made on Trailvoy recently: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=65034 Forgive me if this isn't allowed and let me know, I'll remove it.

I definitely want to. I drooled over the TECORE threads. ;) Ohio4x4 has a "newbie" meet they do a few times a year where they teach fundamentals such as recovery, basic trail technique, tread lightly, etc. Looks like I missed it for 2009, but I'd like to attend the first 2010 and learn what I'm doing. I'd love to do a TECORE-style ride at some point, man it looks like fun.

This past TECORE, we had a vehicle recovery session. We can do it again if we have some noobies along.

As hard as I looked for a picture to illustrate the concept of "swapping ass ends", I could find nothing less than XXX-rated. Sigh...
