Is this too much?

I saw this lift on ebay and was wondering if 3" was too much in the front. Would it cause problems with ball joints or binding? Has anyone used it or any combination that adds up to 3"?

I am running marks kit at 3" and have no issues

Jim,

If you do have a lot of money to spend on the lift and don't want to waste a lot of time. Go with the lift from MarkMC. Great product and support and he is a small vendor that owns 2 Trailblazers.

This Ebay lift kit is a CRIMINALLY insane product to be selling to 4WD vehicles and I've been trying in vain to get them booted. :wallbash:

It's an OUTSIDE the strut cheapie that will destroy your inner CV joints and possibly your upper ball joint mounting stud and kill you if you're on a trail when it breaks.

Only good for 2WD mall cruisers who never fully extend their struts.

Doesn't look like it would work for a trailblazer anyways.

That's a generic picture. I've heard the kits are made properly to fit, even if mal-engineered.

Bill, at first glance I wouldn't have thought any issue with that front spacer.
On the issues with the CV/ball joint is it because since it is outside of the strut you get 3 inches of lift in addition to your added extension from the strut?

I guess I mean it will flex 3 more inches which will over extend the CV, cause it to hit the oilpan and over stress the ball joint.

As far as safety, is the issue that it could overstress the ball joint or that with the way it is designed the strut actually acts like a lever which could break the spacer itself? I also expect that having another set of bolts also acts as another point of failure.

It will effectively make your down stop the tripod joint or the upper ball joint. Those things are not made to be loaded in that way.

+1 on Marks kit. I did his and changed springs gaining 6 1/2" in front and 4" in rear. This was also going from a 255/55/18 to a worn out 265/75/16

Not necessarily "limitations". You just gotta find a lift that is designed properly... as with any vehicle. Look at most jeeps. Lift it too far and you get death wobble. :safari:
