ProComp Rear Shocks? 2.5" lift stock replacement?

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

by snowmirage » Sat Jul 16, 2011 2:34 pm

I have MarkMC's 2.5" lift all the way around and My stock shocks are shot.

I was going to order a set of the BDS everyone has been talking about

I stopped by the local 4x4 shop (4wheelparts) and asked what they might have while I was there.

He recommended the following (Though I kind of get the feeling he would have found something to recommend to me no matter what I asked for.... )

From the specs listed on the web it looks like the specs are similar. I'm not looking for the best, frankly I would be keeping the stockers for at least the foreseeable future if they were still any good. But since I'm replacing them anyway I just want to replace them with something that wont wear out to soon or work as intended because they weren't designed for the extra lift.

I did some searching but haven't seen anyone mention these on either site.

Are they white? They are basically the same thing as BDS if so. Gabriel makes almost all of the white body shocks out there.

Ya they're white. I guess I'll give em a shot. Good price anyway, and I'm sure it'll be better than the blown stockers.

Well the new shocks are on and I have to say they made a HUGE difference!

(New Procomp shocks are better than blown stock ones not designed for a 2.5" lift? who would have thought right?)

Had to find some spacers to use on the lower shock mount, after a quick trip to the hardware store I just picked up some grade 8 nuts that were larger than the bolt but close to the right width leaving just a bit of play side to side on that lower mount.

All and all I am very happy.

They look almost identical to the bds. I bet the rides much better though. Glad you got them on

O ya its 100 times better I am pretty sure the stock shocks were completely maxed out and had almost NO droop left in them, so they were probably bottoming out on every pot hole.

From what I have read they are indeed very similar to the BDS shocks.

What kind of price did you get on these, again? I'm sure it's covered somewhere, but I'm at school and don't have a lot of time to search

they are about $40 on the website and free shipping on orders over $75 so that would be right at $80.

you can also get the skyjacker H7030 for about the same money from Amazon.

Another option is the BDS shock which you won't have to use spacers to get to fit.
They will run you about $115-$120 shipped for a pair with the optional boots

They also support our platform with lifts and other items.
