ok yj it is and to the guy that says i need to evaluate my missions and goals here they are, i dont live in the smoothest terrain out there and snow can get up to 3 feet i need something big to go through snow so i dont get stuck, snowplows dont come up here and the roads are uneven and cars slide off and tip over, i did have my dads f150 and it was lifted and it did ok but i dont like f150's because it liked to sink into the mud and snow. the jeeps are at my moms house in the suburbs and she doesnt like me or my dad so she wouldnt let me take them. so my goal is to get through snow so i dont miss my classes so i can be done with college this year. see when someone says no frame i assume it has a crappy frame, so a yj seemed perfect after that. and to the other guy yes i started talking about tb's but i then changed my mind and said grand cherokee was the way to go and said farewell, but then they said it sucked so now im just talking with these guys about other types of cars if u want me to leave just say the words

i dont know much in terms of off road cars i don't know who offers the best off road car and just need to know.

Capitalization is your friend!

No frame means no frame. You need to brush up on what a body on frame and unibody vehicle are. Body on frame vehicles are generally much tougher, especially for off road and towing.

As for the best off road CAR? Subaru. Best off road vehicle? It's anyone's guess because it GREATLY has to do with your long term goals / sense of nationalism / sensitivity to initial cost, parts cost and fuel cost.

Either way, the GC will probably be fine in snow.

I expect the average person would be just as happy with either the TB or the GC.
My son has an XJ which I love and it is easy to work on.
The biggest problem with it is it isn't nearly as comfortable as the TB.
I'm only about 5'9 and I bump my head when I get in it.

I understand the GC is more comfortable than the XJ.

I also expect for the average off roader the unibody GC/XJ would be fine. There are a lot of them out there.
They seem to hold together fine as long as you don't start cutting on the body.
I mean if you read very much most folks talk about "keeping up with jeeps" for a reason.

There is also much more aftermarket support for them. We have support for some lockers, bumpers, skids, spacers, lifts etc but they have a much wider range.

I also think the drive train is simpler which might be more reliable. Cash for clunkers killed a lot of them so there are lots of parts in the bone yards.

I guess it just depends on if you want to be another Jeep or drive something cool :-)

What I like most about my TB is after friday ill be the only lifted 1 in my area. Unlike the thousands of lifted jeeps. I tend to not be the guy who does what everyone else around him does.

I'm always getting wide eyed looks and thumbs up from the Jeep guys I pass.

There's little doubt mine wheels though, so that may be part of it.

I'd buy a Jeep, but I wouldn't daily drive it if I was going to wheel it. It would be a bona fide treehugger.

I get looks in mine all of the time. My wife has been driving it some lately and she likes how more people let her into traffic. There are only 2 or 3 Trailvoys that I know of that are lifted in Vegas.

No joke, I get positive looks every day. I only have the suspension lift and 32" tires. Once the add in body lift, bumper, etc.... I can imagine I will be answering a few questions when I stop off for a sandwich.

Same here I have the suspension lift with 32's until the body lift arrives. Even with that I get looks all the time and people asking me questions while along side of me at a light. I always get someone saying something at Home Depot(mysecond home).I love it!

I had a Jeep guy drag his buddy over to me 20 miles off pavement in the desert at a lunch break and yell: "There's the Youtube Envoy!!!". Like I was some sort of local celebrity. :coffee:

After that, my wife believed me when I said I had a fan base.

You're an international celebrity, Bill, and you know it! (thanks to the guys we have in UAE anyway) :friday:

Actually, with just the bumper and skids, an inch of lift, and 31" tires, I get people rubber-necking as they go by, or stopping to look at it in the parking lot and stuff... Every once in a while, somebody will ask me what company makes the bumper... That conversation is usually pretty funny...

Either is better, depending on how much you want to build it.

We start out with a pretty large horsepower advantage and a 2.7:1 low range TC.

They have a solid front axle, and by design have a bit more ground clearance from the start.

Jeeps can climb up rocks:

So can TrailBlazers:

"Better" is hard to quantify.
