Just giving a shout out. Been lurking for a week or so.

I have a 2004 Isuzu Ascender.
It has been sitting around mostly unused for last 1.5 years, but ready to get it rolling again. Will need it this winter.

Living on a mountain (Shenandoah) 4WD is a bit required to get to and from the house in the snow.

Haven't done much with it. I replaced a failing transfer case last year, complete carpet replacement (had a mildew issue), and major cleaning of ventiliation after some mice got in through the air intake.

Working through a few issues with the vehicle but then hoping to transform into a capable winter and off-road vehicle, for some off the path camping and off-roading, while still maintaining street drive-ability.

Later,

Michael

Actually, the Isuzu Ascender is a rebranded envoy built on the same assembly line as everyone else's here. Only difference is the badge on the grill......and that Isuzu no longer sells consumer vehicles in the US.

Welcome Michael.

The Shenandoah area is awesome for back country exploration. I'm quite jealous. I'd love to move out that direction in the next few years, but from my searching so far, it seems jobs are a bit sparse in the engineering field.

I look forward to seeing the Ascender buildup!

That's not the only field jobs are in short supply around here. I commute into the Dulles Airport area everyday otherwise I would be very much unemployed. It's a trade-off, live-in a great location with little (tech) jobs and a long commute or live-in a less than ideal location for a great commute. I'm constantly flip-flopping which is better.

Well, since I've got the car on jack stands to fix my intermittent power to the fuel pump and my front differential issue I went ahead and picked up a set of Z71 springs and ordered the 2" BDS suspension lift with the 5500s. Now the trick is to explain to the wife how those parts were needed to fix the diff and fuel pump. :)

Well, you had to drop the rear axle anyways to drop the fuel tank to check the wires to the fuel pump, and while doing so you found that the rear springs needed replaced.
And if you replace the rear springs you have to upgrade the rest of the suspension or else the truck wont ride right. right? right? :thumright:

Just tell her the lift and meaty treads are for her safety, "wouldn't want us getting stuck and....". That's how I get away with buying new guns ;) .

We used to live near Cataloochee in NC. We needed at least AWD even in good weather, our driveway was pretty crazy. Sometimes we would have 6" of snow and our mailbox would have none.
