My front disconnect is welded shut and you only notice the locker on-road in a sharp parking lot turn, where it clicks repeatedly. With a 'normal' disconnect you wouldn't hear a thing. I run 140w shock proof gear oil in both my diffs which helps keep things quiet.
Off road, it makes your front wheels relevant again when you have one in the air. You WILL notice it in the steering and I've already toasted one CV half-shaft... though I can't say for sure if that's entirely the locker's fault. Steering in deep snow or mud with a front locker is difficult, as sometimes the truck just goes straight no matter what. Wear on suspension and steering components is increased. It's also a pain in the ass to install in the front diff.
Would I do it again? You betcha.
It's probably time for this thread to be moved out of the classifieds.
