Howdy all. Just wanted to say this is hands down the most helpful discussion board out there. Since I just joined I wasn't sure whether to post here first or post this question in its appropriate topic, but if it need moved I am sure that can be arranged. I have a 2002 TB 4x4 and used the "4WD disconnect" thread to assist in my removal and repair. I found the outer seal and outer needle bearing assembly completely destroyed. Also the outer gear shows wear on the bearing surface, the shift fork has some wear grooves worn into it from the gear shift collar (about 1/8" deep) and the outer thrust washer is now concave with wear marks from the gear. While I am in there replacing those parts I figure I will do the other two needle bearings (gmpartsdirect?). My main question is I want to do a lift. Nothing to wild, just give her a better stance and improve ground clearance. There are so many options out there I figured I would check with the experts before jumping in with both feet. I hate the way the TB sags down with heavy loads and rides like a sponge. So I would like to stiffen it up all around to ride more like my truck, Chevy 3500 dauly. Here is what I am thinking about now: Also who and where are the best places to get this stuff?

Some type of lift for overall 2-2.5"
Tahoe coils and shocks in back
Stiffer coils in front and shock(may put a bumper on down the road)
Bilstein HD shocks or Tahoe(rear)
Wheel adapters 1.5"
Tires 265/75/16 (roughly)

And on a totally separate note I am getting a clunk noise when slowing and weight shifts forward, also a rattle/play when on rough terrain. I took it to a shop and they suggested lower control arms bushings. I can't feel any play in that area, but then again I can't generate as much force as the wight of the TB can. The only thing I can feel play in is the front swaybar connects. The TB has about 95,000 miles. Thanks for any help, love the website!

Hey Thomas, welcome to the site.

I'd reccommend checking out the suspension/lifts section of the site. There is an announcement thread in there with lots of info on all of the lifts that are available.

The tahoe coils can generally be found on ebay... and the front stiffer coils can be found from a GM dealer (there's a thread about the factory springs in the suspension section too).

Good luck with your hunt, glad you like the site.

Thanks, I have checked ebay out about the Tahoe springs, but can't find the shocks there, and I have also seen the thread on the factory spring rates. I check my springs but can't find any identifying marks (numbers or color marks). Any idea what the TB came stock with, or what is typical for this year? That would at least give me a starting point. Thanks

Forget about the Z71 shocks, they're too short.

Read, my friend... hint: look in the paragraph directly below the RPO code listings.

Welcome

With all that lift and the wheel adapters I would go bigger with the tires.
