1.25" Spacer Question

Alright guys, before you flame the crap outta me, yes I can read, yes I have searched, and yes I think I already know the answer. I just want a solid quick confirmation as my finger is on the buy button on ebay right now.


I'm finally upgrading to 265/75/16's and have made the decision to stick with my stock rims (instead of 6x5.5's) as I like the look, and my goal has always been a "Stock Lifted Look" I want the tires tucked in as close as possible. Trying to avoid throwing crap all over the truck with every mudpuddle or rain.

I know Hardtrailz runs the 1.3" adapters so I'm assuming I'll be fine, but he also has aftermarket rims. The ones on ebay now are 1.25", will I have an issue running the 265/75's on only 1.25" spacers with stock rims?

I'm tired of my 255/70's looking like little doughnuts in my wheelwells.

You will have to grind down the studs on the truck so that they do not protrude from the spacer.

1.5" on each side will not look much different from the 1.25"... so unless you're looking at a monumental savings, why not go with the 1.5"? It's only 1/4" on each side...

I understand that I will have to grind down the studs. The savings is $40 bucks, nothing major but I could just hit click and have them on their way. No PM'ing and waiting for replies, setting up new paypal etc. I agree it is only a 1/4", but 1/4" in the wrong direction could be an issue.

12x1.5 open end bulge lugnuts are included to fit the studs in the adapter but you may need a different kind or style lug for your wheels and or vehicle.

They use the same ad for the pairs, 12 per pair. I dont think there's anything wrong with spreading vendor love around for our platform. The more options the better, especially when ordering is simple in the form of an online store or vendor management system such as ebay.


Maybe we could try this, if someone is willing to go out on a limb and phrase their response in the following:


"Yes, the 1.25" will clear the ball joints for 265/75's without an issue but you will need to grind down your studs some"---that might be helpful.

OR

"No, the 1.25" will not provide suitable clearance for the ball joint with 265/75's"

Your 265/75/16s come in at ~31.5" tires. You should clear everything fine with the 1.25"ers.

I don't like the idea of having to cut your studs that much more that the 1.3" ones. I mean its only 40$ more for .25" of extra spacers. Id say just find two more 20$ bills and buy the 1.5"

Wasn't really worried about the difference in stud grinding btwn the 1.25-1.3. However what I have been convinced of is that my time and hassle is worth more to me than $40 bucks. So, I'll just be patient and go with the group on this one and order the 1.5's for the pure ease of just bolting them on.

So, this thread becomes the official go-to search thread now that the 1.25"'s are being sold openly on ebay.

If you feel as though grinding down the studs is not an issue, by all means, go with the 1.25". Me, I'd rather not have to spend time grinding down 24 studs to save a couple of bucks.

Yeah the only reason I got the 1.3" was because the ebay seller never had the 1.5" spacers and I never felt like spending 365$ for some spacers.

You can get the 1.3" spacers from markmc, then you only have to grind the rear studs.

I have always felt the $365 is a bit ridiculous for spacers.

I wasnt aware it's just the back that have to be ground, I thought it was all the way around?!?!

If you don't want them sticking out too much and you're running stock rims then you should be happy with the 1.5s still. They don't really stick out much past the wheel well if at all. I'd show you a pic but my TB is still stuck in someone else's driveway.

I appreciate the offer on the photo. I was interested in the 1.25's for 2 reasons:

1. The ease of ordering
2. Keeping the wheels as tucked in as possible

I actually started this thread before I saw the following photo tbangert posted. This convinced me to just go with the 1.5's as he has a very similar truck running the same stock rims with the same tire size I am getting. Truck looks great to me so I already pm'ed Mark to get some 1.5's on the way. I've looked at a lot of photo's of lifted TB's with the wheels sticking way out which is what I dont want for mine, so this result should be perfect.

Ummmm, wheel studs are sized with diameter and thread pitch, so 12X1.5 means 12mm by 1.5 threads/mm

Originally I was going to go with the 1.3" spacers, but I am totally happy with the 1.5"ers. The edge of the tires are perfectly even with the wheel wells like I wanted. Personally I cannot stand tires that stick waaaay out the side of a truck, but thats just my personal opinion. I got my spacers from wheeladapters through ebay, they only advertised 1.3" but got a message within 12 hours asking if I would prefer the 1.5" spacers instead for a few more bucks and not have to grind studs, so I did.
