Not according to one of the shops here who insisted it was a 10 hour job that required dropping the diff. Took me circa 4 hours and dinner for a friend who helped me (and let me use his garage), and as you guessed, no dropping the diff.
Also, don't forget to grab the seal from the dealer instead of Autozone. It's like a $15-16 part.

Found a couple 9.5's in the area too, but I didn't want to spend $350 on a axle+ the cost of 3.73's for front and rear. Maybe next year...

Dustin, why are you only doing 3.73's? It seems like a lot of work/expense for no more gain than you get.
If I was re-gearing I would at least go with 4.10 even if I was going to stick with 32s.
