Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

What did you do to your GMT today?

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

200 miles and $79 is better then over $500 for the axle with or without shipping costs.

110k, everything looks good but I'm still replacing the bearings and everything. Trying to decide if I wanna order my locker or my lift first, axle isn't going in the truck til it has a locker

Found a couple 9.5's in the area too, but I didn't want to spend $350 on a axle+ the cost of 3.73's for front and rear. Maybe next year...

You officially win. I paid $150 for my axle.

If you're doing a full rebuild, might as well get a Detroit or a Grizzly locker.

HF has all the tools you need to set up gears.

yeah, you can get set up to do gears pretty reasonably. After that it just takes some patience. Don't make no sense to not do it all at once if there's any way you can swing it

Not according to one of the shops here who insisted it was a 10 hour job that required dropping the diff. Took me circa 4 hours and dinner for a friend who helped me (and let me use his garage), and as you guessed, no dropping the diff.

Also, don't forget to grab the seal from the dealer instead of Autozone. It's like a $15-16 part.
This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.

Was just gonna put a lockright in it, since I plan on building a 14 bolt over winter and that will get a Detroit and 3.73's.
Kinda curious now though, parts book at work list a 07+ with factory 18's having a 8.6... Anyone know any truth to this

Decided to get moving on my rear storage and platform idea. Gotta get it done by TECORE. Pretty rudimentary stuff. Wish I had more carpentry skills.

Yea, your guys' front diff seals aren't too bad to change.

I actually have axle shafts that C-clip into the front carrier. They have a flange on the end that the CV bolts up too. You guys are lucky with a CV that has a spline and a c-clip.

I have to drop my front diff and take it apart to get the axle shafts out, so I can access the seals.

Build the 8.6. No one has broken one on this platform yet, and we've tried.

06+ SWB with V8s get the 8.6.

Where is the yard? I may have to spend some time on the road!

Dustin, why are you only doing 3.73's? It seems like a lot of work/expense for no more gain than you get.
If I was re-gearing I would at least go with 4.10 even if I was going to stick with 32s.

I hadn't found 3.42's for a 9.5, but I finally found them last night. 9.5 is overkill as no one has killed a 8.6 yet but I'd mainly be doing it for a air locker

you should be able to get an air locker for an 8.6.
