Hey guys and girls, This is my first stop on the fourm. I just aquired a 02 TB. Started checking out the fourms and found this one to contain lots and lots of good usefull stuff. I plan on building my TB for street and trail use. To start off thing I took the family out this week end to see how capible the TB is, in stock form. Also to find out what all works and dosent. So first off, its to low to the ground. I dont need a pavement pounder! Second it has a open diff with 3.73 , and third the front actuator for the axle is extreamly slow to engauge. So shortly after posting this "Hi guys, I'm Robert" message, I'm going to start taking the actuator apart and see if its fixable. Any why this is geting log so.... Hey guys I'm Robert. im a G.M. tech of 13 years. and plan to have tons of fun with this 02 TB. Thanks.

Welcome! If you use the search button I can overlook the GM tech stigma. Lol
It's not how fast you go. It's how quick you get there. Lifted TBSS Build

Welcome Robert. Glad you found this place. There is some information on the front disconnect on the main page if you want to take a look. Maybe you can add some information with your experience?

Anyway, read tons, plan well, and build it the way you want to use it.

So I took the front actuator apart after work today to find the obvious, grease all dried out and such. I disassembled it and took it over to the parts washer to clean it up. After every thing wash cleaned up I noticed the shift fork were the spring rides/sits was fractured. (at this point I didn't know that the other part was suppose to be attached). All the needle bearing looked good as well as the rest of the parts. So I put fresh grease on all the parts and bearings, sealed the case halfs and installed. Test the operation to find still no go. So when I got home tonight I looked through the tech articles and found the front actuator write up. That is a very handy piece of info. Repair documents from GM are not always clear with images, and as soon as I seen the shift fork I knew mine was donzo. So now when I get to work Im going to order the sleeve from the AWD models. It brings me peace of mind to have one less electrical component to cause a problem of the trail, or for that mater a snowy day on my way to work.
