Inline 6 engine noise??

So I have read…and heard first hand unfortunately, that the inline 6 is quite a noisy engine. It's quiet as can be but once 3k miles comes around after an oil change it starts to sound a bit "rough". Is this something that others have experienced and if so does this vehicle need a bit more standard maintenance than other vehicles. any info is much appreciated. thanks in advance.

I think most folks that follow the OLM get 7-10k miles on conventional oil.
I change mine about every 7500 with synthetic.
I have a little vibration at idle but no noise.

hmm ok. I'm not sure what I'm experiencing. I've talked to a few Chevy mechanics and they have said these engines do experience some engine slap which sounds like a bottom end issue but they said you can have that noise and you'll get another 100k out of it. just curious what anyone else has experienced. thanks

Same here. No noises like that. I get a somewhat heavy vibration at idle, but i know its motor mounts. Just too lazy to change them.

Mine needs them replaced, however I have been suffering from similar symptoms lately. Lazy, broke and its been too cold.

As for engine noise, the only thing I hear on startup is the roar of the fan. After about 20-30 seconds it goes away and I have some lifter noise. It is more prevalent in the winter, and typically quiets down after a few minutes. Some mornings it can also sound like a powerstroke, it depends on the temps and I attribute that to a leak at the exhaust manifold.

I will say I hear more lifter noise now using Mobil 1 than I did when using Royal Purple. I typically follow the OLM for oil changes, and that has been anywhere from 10k-14k miles. I switched to Mobil 1 as it was cheaper and I figured hell it is highly recommended. I will not be using it again.
