Obviously, I am new to this forum. I've used trailvoy in the past, but I am also interested in making modifications for better offroad/towing performance, and this place seems to have the right people to answer questions.

Currently, my finances would allow no such thing, but I do plan to make offroading mods in the future.

More importantly, my vehicle is a 2005 TrailBlazer LT, with most of the trimmings, doused in a nice black and silver two-tone with a two-tone beige-gray interior (which I personally don't like as much as the Ebony).

It has the 4.2, and a GT4 rear-end, currently a little over 97k miles on it, ~10k of which were made by me. I am very happy with the investment I made in this vehicle, and very glad to find a community dedicated to bringing it from a tame, soccer mom-friendly cat to the offroading tiger these have the potential to be.

Is the currently due to funds, or are you planning on a new fiance when it comes time to do the changes?

Funds, really. My current employment affords me the ability to do basic maintenance and upkeep, but nothing more. Already looking for a solution to that, then my next step will be acquiring a more diverse tool set to meet needs before they arise (such as that 35mm hub nut), then overcoming my worry that I'll josh everything up.... then it's mod time. lol

I'm sure if I lived in Cali, it would be easy to come across other enthusiasts to help me along with the final step of that plan, but I'm on the other end of the U.S. :P

West Virginia-Ohio border. Anyone ever heard of Wheeling? I'm a drive south of there. Close to Parkersburg, WV and Marietta, OH.

I think the general consensus is you're looking at 1500 to lift and get on 32s. which is dirt cheap.

even stock with some skids will get you a lot of places. looking forward to your posts!

Would that work with an '05, with the A4WD function? I mean I rarely use that function anyway, I prefer manually selecting.

In time, with enough reading around, you'll learn it's not a good idea to use A4WD. EVER! And its definitely not wise to shift into this or 4HI at any speed greater than 5mph, especially with the way the 4WD disconnect is designed.

Interesting to know. I was under the impression that A4WD (while I've heard of the trouble it causes, especially in the TC) and 4HI were selectable at higher speeds (within reason, not at highway speeds or anything). In fact, I'm pretty sure it's my disconnect that's shot. I have a post over in Troubleshooting called 4x4 Noise/Problem if you want to read the list of symptoms. It's in the OP with an addendum below. Makes me kind of miss having a good old solid axle, then again I sure don't miss the ride quality!

That price isn't really all that bad, all things considered! I really like the look of the Trailblazer up on offroad tires, and especially with a light rack up top (which would probaby make me sacrifice sunroof, etc., but hey). Thanks for all the welcomes

You're safe when it comes to the light bar on the roof and your sunroof. We mounted our light bar about an inche back from the start of the track so the sunroof could prop up all the way. Worked fine and looked great.
