rear end gu6

i am sure this has been covered but... i have an 06 ls 4x4 , the rear is an open diff (gu6) i am looking to get the g80 locker and was wondering what my options are as far as going to a junk yard.. do only trailblazers and envoys carry them or are there other models of gm vehicles that do? also i am not worried about the anti lock brake issue too much but id rather have it working for inspections than not working.. thanks guys and let me know

also i am sure this has been covered too , but is there an option for an aftermarket locker that will go directly into my diff housing??

If you're going through the trouble of swapping your rear axle might as well go with the 8.6" rear gives you locker options and it's stronger. And yes it has been covered many many times. Also I'd recommend taking advantage of this sites search function and the large database of info that already covers this topic.

First you need to determent what size axle you got. If you have. SWB, 4.2l, and wheels smaller than 17" then you most likely have a 8.0". The only two options are the stock weak g80 and the Eaton truetrac LSD.

Now if you have a EXT or a SWB with 5.3l. You have a 8.6" axle and many after market options including the G80.

you could, but given that guys have broke the 8.0 on some really, really tame trails, I wouldn't bother. Do it right the first time or spend a lot more overall in the near future.

Alright well back to my first question, does anyone know what vehicles have a g80 that will bolt up to my trailblazer? There are a few at the junk yard but I have no clue the compatability

Yea man just open the glove box, click the tabs to make the door come all the way out and look at the little sticker with the vin number and rpo codes listed. Those are the options that specific vehicle was set up with. Of the little alphanumeric 3 digit codes you want g80 or g86. That'll give you your gov bomb locker you want so badly.
