from victor, co to canon city, co
myself and a buddy came up for work from new mexico and decided to take a "shortcut"
no real climbing or actual off-roading, but a good scenic drive nonetheless.

and... inside the tunnel

like i said, there in no aggressive offroading, just a scenic drive. there are a couple of "hairy" spots where it seems like the road is a half lane wide with a 500' sheer drop on one side and a 500' highwall on the other. definetly a good photo op if your ever in the area

Sounds like a nice trip! Have any pics of the dropoffs?

Where exactly was this in CO? The wife and I are trying to gather some info on some interesting stops out there.

no pics of the dropoffs, didn't pull out the camera until nearly the bottom of the canyon :wallbash: . Phantom Canyon Rd. starts just east of victor, co at 10,000 ft elevation (appr. 1 hr. east of colorado springs) and comes out near canon city, co at roughly 5,000 ft of elevation (appr. 1/2 hour west of pueblo, co). It was about an hour drive. There is also Shelf Road about 20 minutes from victor starting in cripple creek, co . i haven't traveled it yet but i've heard it is much more scenic with higher drop-offs and is mostly one lane. :thumright:
