Offroad Trailblazers and Envoys

another cut off the resonator story

Trailblazer and Envoy related, but not off-road related...

so yes...it is again...another resonator cut off story.

when down to my local muffler shop today...decided to make a change. $40 to cut off the resonator and weld on some new 3" tube. with the magnaflow 5x8 in place of the middle muffler...it makes the truck sound like a V8. can't complain at all with the results. I'll have to get a video up of it soon.

It makes it sound "loud" or "good"... It does NOT make it sound like a V8...

"loud" does not equal "good" when you believe Tread Lightly applies also to not making a lot of unnecessary noise on the trails. IMHO. I tried Magnaflow. I tried Flowmaster. Spent a lot of $$ for no purpose. Finally put back in a (slightly less than full size OEM) Wagner to keep it quiet.

Look what you people made me do!

2 chamber welded muffler I6 (about as loud as you can get without being downright annoying) vs "stock" ( :finger: ) LT1 V8.

11 Silverado LTZ - 6.2L/6l80, 2/3 drop, self tuned
85 Hilux - 3RZ, dual cases, caged, 40s, chromo everything
02 TrailBlazer LTZ - 35s, lockers, balls - Gone but not forgotten - Build

LOL, Donny I guess you could say it sounds "more like" a V8.
What is funny is I went into the kitchen for lunch and was listening to this.
My 3yo son got up from in front of the TV and came over to the computer to listen.
I said "son, do you wish daddy's Trailblazer sounded like that one?"
He said "uh huh!"
Then he said "Why is his tire on the back like that?"

Here you go... A completely stock v8 Envoy WITH resonator. Video taken right under exhaust, so it seems louder than it really is.

It's really amusing how many of us have fbodies and then picked a trailblazer.
