Parking brake stuck

So I ran into a problem yesterday concerning my parking brake. I turn the Tb on and immediately am destroyed by constant beeping from the vehicle. The parking brake alarm. Now the parking brake is obviously not on at the moment but the dash is lighting up the symbol that it is on. And the alarm literally will not stop. After about five minutes of making my ears begin to bleed from the high pitch tone, it subsides. After this, while driving, the alarm will intermittently go on and off and if It goes off and I pick up and slam down the parking brake, then it goes off. I have not a clue what the problem is...anyone have any thoughts?

The brake alarm can go off for two reasons because it's not just for the parking brake. If you have low fluid level in the master cylinder, its level switch tells the BCM that sends a data message to the IPC to turn on the lamp. The parking brake switch (at the rear of the lever) tells the ABS module who then sends a data message to the IPC. Disconnect either of these switches to see if it's the switch. It could also be frayed wiring from either switch to the modules that are looking for the switch signals.

Or you could have low master cylinder level and the alarm is valid. In which case I can't explain the connection to the ebrake lever.

Odd, seems as if it was somehow related to my destroyed wheel bearing/hub assembly...all is well now.

Josh got an ABS light from his bad wheel hub bearing. New bearing in, light went out. Hasn't been on since.

so the bad hub was giving ABS a bad reading.
interesting that the brake light came on instead of the ABS light.

Yah, if it was the ABS light and Steve misreported it, he gets put in the Roadie-dog-house and I won't answer his next three questions. :finger:

Nope haha it was the parking brake light. The ABS light on the other hand has been on for quite some time now...I just sort of disregard it at this point as I am not exactly sure why it is lit up...
