Front axel disco

Something not working right?

by TBNewbie » Sat Sep 29, 2012 2:40 pm

So last week my truck would not engage 4 wheel drive so I finnally had achanch to rip into it last night and found both outer bearings where completly gone. There was only a dozen needles left loose and the outer race. So I need to replace the outer housing the outer gear both bearings and outer seal. Was wondering if there ws anyone who has any spare parts from old broken Disco might have something I can buy.

I doubt anyone has good parts if theirs was bad enough to junk it. If not, the part numbers are listed in the rebuild article.

Sounds like a pricey job.

Have you done one before? The bearings are about $6 each... The seals are $10-15 IIRC.

When we did Josh's about 2 months ago, bearings were $16 each, we bought 2, And the seal was $11 I didn't remove the inner housing, therefore, didn't replace the inner seal or inner most bearing. And i had De-greaser and grease already. The whole job wasn't to difficult or expensive.
