confused about front diff

Something not working right?

are there different models that i may purchase. I am confused as hell is there a 2003 and lower model and a 2004 and up one. It seems to me that they are the same but i may be mistaken. someone explain to me

I have heard there is a slight difference on number of mounting holes, but I haven't seen a "new" style diff to verify that.

to me they look the same but i still have no idea. im still dreading taking that thing out. im really hoping that its not the problem!
