ATP front axle disconnect

Something not working right?

by gotspeed1 » Sat Aug 20, 2011 1:04 am

http://www.counterman.com/Article/86631/atp_introduces_front_axle_disconnect_assemblies.aspx

Long story short, mine is shot (housing included). I was wondering if anyone has heard of these (and maybe used them)?
After seeing how much a disconnect would be to rebuild, not to mention time trying to find the housing, it just seems feasible to buy one of these if they're worth it. Thoughts /opinions?

Roadie posted about this a few months ago. From what I've seen, the jobber price is $495, or you can get it with a new actuator for $545. I haven't bought one yet, but I will in the next few months.

Junkyard isn't an option to get a new one?

I put one on back in May, right when they first came out. Posted about it on the OS, Roadie gave it a mention here too. I wish I would have had more time installing it, would have tried to install a zerk fitting for future servicing, but was under a real time constraint at the time. Replaced the axle and hub since I was "in the neighborhood". SO far it's held up, but with only about 4,000 miles on it I would hope so.
