Hot fluid smell

Something not working right?

by Hpimichael02 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 11:48 pm

Hey guys I'm starting to notice a hot fluid smell radiating from the front of the truck , no leaks and no radi fluid in the oil , could this be a sign of front diff fluid getting old or tranny fluid getting thinned ? Both are due for changing 2k miles ago , or something more serious , kinda smells like radi fluid but I don't have a leak , I frost smelt it when I got the truck warmed in 4wd off road then go through water kinda the same smell any ideas?

Does it smell like coolant? If so it's probably your radiator cap needing replacement. It won't necessarily leak but it's not holding proper pressure.

Yes is does and my Efan needs to be all 97% of the time and the temp is slightly higher , would that cause this?

Age. The caps wear out.
