Climate control temp sensor question....

Ok, so I'm new and either my Google-Fu is off kilter or I have something that hasn't happened to anyone on the board. So I bought the TB last week and noticed that the exterior temp reading on my climate control cluster always reads 50 degrees and hasn't moved. The numbers cycle fine when adjusting driver or passenger temperatures but when it goes back to the ext temp, it just sits at 50. I dont have a repair manual yet so I'm wondering where the ext air temp sensor is located so I can test it or is there something else entirely I'm missing and need to be informed of?

There's a sensor on the radiator shroud that reports the temperature. Mine had some dirt in the connector and did this exact thing. Some have had to replace the sensor. I believe it's around $8 from the dealer.

My exterior temp (in the mirrow) was reading OC, so after some searching I found I didnt have a sensor installed. Rockauto to my door for $10 and good to go.

My temperature sensor is doing the same thing , i have it in Celsius and is reading 10 degrees all the time ... don't worry mine is like this since 2 years ago ! LOL

My 02 did the same thing tried resetting the hvac controls, still read 50f, replaced the sensor, in the plastic behind the front grille, 5.89 at the dealer here, worked perfectly.

Sweet, I will make a call to the dealer and move on.

*EDIT* Swapped in a new sensor to test and got nothing. Still reading 50 degrees so now I will trace down the wire and see what all is goin on...

*EDIT* My wife got in the truck afterward and all the sudden it started working. Whatever, at least it's working!

If it's so cheap i might order it too.. I had enough of this 2 years looking at that display showing 10 degrees all the time ! LOL

Part number 15047946, there is also after market ones from rock auto, but shipping just for it wouldn't be worth it to save the 2 dollars from the dealer.
