Rear differential question

Something not working right?

by dvanbramer88 » Sat Nov 26, 2011 6:13 pm

Can i take the G80 out of josh's 2002 TB and put in his new 2003 TB that doesn't have the G80?

Is it as easy as switching the carriers and guts? or would just swapping out the rear axles be easier? (i did see the guide about repairing the G80)

It would be easier to swap the entire axle.

There is a lot involved with a carrier swap... shims, backlash measurements, etc.

thanks man. I wasn't sure if it was just a bolt off bolt on swap or they were significantly different. Swapping the axles wouldn't be to hard, especially if it was done while installing a lift kit. Kill 2 birds with one stone...

James is right, you would save a large amount of time just swapping the axles.

Haha, good point. I kinda figured that was a given, but now that you mention it, it may not be.
