Weird "Electric" sound???

Something not working right?

by themightysteveo » Wed Dec 22, 2010 10:41 pm

SO, before the K&N install and after my TB was / is making a weird "electric car" sound? It did it once before when I first bought the truck and I took it to the dealer who said it was the air box. So naturally when I removed the air box today to install the K&N I assumed it would go away.

The best way to describe it is if you have ever turned your steering wheel all the way over and held it...you hear the pump whining... that sound is what I hear when my TB is "ON"; idle, drive, turn, you name it. :wallbash:

I lubed the belt, inspected and re-greased the barings on the radiator fan. Any ideas??

Idler pulley or PS pump?
This is an aggressive post. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate a post of this quality and depth.

Anything change how loud it is? I'm leaning toward the idler pulley as well. How many miles when you got it? Now?

88500 G and the pitch of the sound is dependent on acceleration.

I would lean towards the idler pulley as well. I just had the same problem and last night replaced the pulley and it went away.
