Right now there are a dozen or so builds where the user has less than 30 posts. And several of them on the first two pages, the users post count is the number of posts in his build thread.

I think if you're going to do a build, participation in the rest of the site is kind of a given.

Maybe that + "featured" builds... ?

I like the featured builds idea, maybe breaking it out by trail rank or into sub forums, although I could see it becoming heavy on the moderators, like the existing build chart is reliant on navigator for updates.

I do disagree with the required minimum post count though. For example, I have 119 posts, most came from the lounge, I'd say at most 20 of those are replies or contributions. I'm not ashamed to say that I don't post a lot outside of the lounge, because all that I have done has been covered/posted by Fish/Kyle/etc when they were the few running 35s. I'm on here daily, reading the new threads posted, most times I have no input to add to the conversations. If I had to have at least 30 posts, it would only encourage me to post duplicates of what has already been written, or post junk to get above that limit.

I dunno, we can think that one over.

This doesn't have to be something that's done immediately.

Maybe just start with the ones more frequently updated then work through the rest as time allows.

People don't ask for rank changes often enough that moving a build thread should become tedious as well.

Possibly tie the Rank change to where the build thread is located, makes it a two for one change if that's possible.

As far as the being ranked based on build and trail posts. I'm fine with not putting in the effort and not moving any further if that's your choice. In fact, I have no trail rank listed, and if I was put into the cruiser section or even below, then I would have no one to blame but myself for not having posted my trips to DTC for the last two years, yes I procrastinate like no other, nor have I updated my build to my current status. That's on me, not on you guys. No effort, no advancement.

So while this format would be taxing initially, it would be easier to look up in the future and would require minimal upkeep at the slow rate of Rank requests that we have currently.

This is the most interesting thing I've followed on here in awhile. :lurk: Not since we hazed the guy who liked to throw trash out the window. Now that was fun. And all this because someone put their underwear and socks on inside out, and decided to rant about build threads. :zombie:

I agree to this. If there was a minium post count like Plaen said it would encourage duplicate posts and it also could lead to misleading information. I like the whole Idea of what has been thrown around. Your rank/level entitels your build to that section. With the ones who are not adding things to thier TB/Envoy(JD, Roadie, fishsticks, Dirty Anton, ChevyCrew just to name a few) should be in a Honorary Builds Subform. If thats even possiable, which I'm sure it is. But then if the Newbies catch on and start posting trips and get their rank and vanish, then what??? Then there are the Build threads that those members arn't active anymore. What would we do with those? Cast them into a subform title "No Longer With Us"... So many questions so little time....

Why dont we get some more Moderators on the board. Didn't Philberto leave?? Not trying to say make me a mod but I feel we should replace the Mods who have left the board.

As far as I can tell there are enough mods, but the mods themselves would do better to determine it since only they know what the workload is.

Modifications? Or Moderators?

EVERYBODY needs more mods!

As far as moderators go, maybe a couple more wouldn't hurt.

Maybe you should just force people to actually follow the guidelines for posting a build thread and start pruning the ones that don't match. Require moderator approval for new threads to be posted. And set a minimum modification requirement, like lift and springs and minium of two photos. Stock vehicles and wish lists exclude the need for a build. Having parts on the shelf, exclude a build thread. Completed modifications and now you can have a build thread, so long as it meets the guidelines and has a min of two photos.

Nothing is more annoying than an awesome sounding build with no photos. Or a stock build thread with no photos wasting space.

Being someone that doesn't have a posted build thread but working on one instead of posting some bs and adding to it later I agree with Mike completely. I got ties with all social media (except I guess this site) cause it got annoying but I do remember you being able to set requirements for approval. Someone would post a comment on your page but it wouldn't go public until the person themselves approved it. Is there a way to make that happen with this problem?

Or could you make a fill in the blanks sort of thing. Like Mike said too, make atleast 2 pictures a requirement. I kind of like seeing stock to modified instead of the other way around. Post a picture of your stock vehicle, fill in the blanks of a premade build thread, and then post a picture of your rig currently that you can update as you progress. After that you can post individual modifications like its done now. Just an idea
