Rear Shock Relocation

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

The Problem:

Running no rear sway bar allows the rear axle to flex more. Great for articulation, but causes an issue with the left side shock body and the panhard rod mount. The result is this:

If this were a monotube shock it would be game over.

My Solution:

TeraFlex shock relocators for 97-06 Jeep TJs.

Redrilled the shock mounts to fit the relocators. Also of note is the 3rd mounting hole (not shown) on the back which fits perfectly with the preexisting hole in the forward side of the shock mounts. Already been off pavement with them and they are quiet and seem sturdy.

I have EXT e-brake cables that I put in when I did my axle swap, so I had no problem with length on those. Here's my brake lines at full droop.

They are still pretty loose, but I unbolted the brackets anyway to be safe. I'll bend the hard lines towards the rear a bit and make some new brackets soon.

The shocks are collapsed 2" more at rest than before the relocation. This actually puts them a bit closer to what BDS intended them to be for my setup. I only had an inch or so of unused rod before, so I'll need to pad my bumpstop landing up. I'll probably handle that this coming weekend.

Nice, I'd now take a band saw to the extra metal you have hanging down.

Pretty sweet, I'm glad they don't make noise.

Could you just cut off the existing mounts, roll them up, and weld them back on?

Probably. But I bought these from a local 4x4 shop awhile back for like 35 bucks. My welder's out of wire too.

Already having them, and using them, is much easier!

Nice work.
