Rear Shocks

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Send me a diagram of what you need for spacers, i will make some for you..

Yeah, I used the stock bolt. I went and got some washers to use for spacers since I couldn't find what I was wanting and don't have access to a lathe like I use to. I know there is some slop in the bolt where it goes through the shock but it isn't too bad once it was sandwiched between the stacks of washers.

I will get you a diagram, I think it can be pretty much used for and of the rear shocks from a Tahoe. The basic dimensions are 7/16" ID x 1 1/4" OD x 3/8". 2 per shock takes it up nicely.

I know this is late in the game but did the three members that have issues with the BDS rear shocks have the 5500's or the 9500's?

I believe they were all 5500s. The only problem with the 9500s was one member got the wrong set that were too long but were replaced by BDS. IIRC Hmm, I wonder who that was...

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier.

They are holding up great. The ride is pretty good with the Z71 springs. I don't think you are planning on going with the Z71s so I would expect them to be just as good with your setup.

Where did you order them from? When is your brother leaving with the TB?

Ordered them from 4WheelParts, they're supposed to drop-ship from Skyjacker and be here end of next week. My brother leaves Monday around 2pm and I need to have at least an hour to have it aligned before he drives it 600mi.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but I might have to go with the Hyrdos instead because I can source those by friday/sat. At the extreme already for rear shock travel, pretty sure the ride will be horrible.

At this point I would definitely just do the hydros. You said it is mostly light off-road, and for the road conditions up there.

Well I ended up going with some Pro Comp 926500s instead, 4WheelParts had them stocked locally so when I grabbed the front Bilstein HDs I picked up a pair of them. Hope the ride is good, they're a nitrogen pressurized shock like the Nitros. The difference was $9 between the pairs, and the price of the shock boots!

Ill let you know how it rides tomorrow when I get the front put back together.

I think those should work just as well, they are very similar. I think you will like the ride.

Just saw this, dont make it over here very often.

So far they've got about 3-4k on them and seem to be holding up well. Ride is pretty firm out back, but I was expecting that. Ill have a better update on Sat/Sun then next week as the 02's my brothers truck and he has it with him out in Bozeman, Montana so I dont get to drive it that often. I dont think they've bottomed out at all, they're pretty dang similar to the Skyjacker N8030s Larry's running. They're a wide body shock, but this truck wont really see any offroading anyway just trips through snow to the mountains and maybe the occasional mild offroad trek.

Just looked up the part number I used, ProComp ES9000 series, pt #926500. http://www.procompusa.com/prodDetail.aspx?partNo=EXP926500&catID=1&subCat=90&ptID=3306&plID=1820

I had gone to the local 4wheelparts here and all they had were es3000 from a up to 6" lift tahoe. Switched those in and it rides amazing, I'll have to grab some pictures of what I did with the mounts for a better explanation. I had pressed out the spacer from the stock shocks and cut the rubber off, and used that for the top and bottom mount, just had to use a few washers to hold the shock in place around the stock bushing. I opted to use the stock ones since the i.d. of the tahoe spacer was a little too big for the mounting bolt, and on the tahoe take offs, they made a few noises when it would move around.

These are non gas charged, I expected them to be squishy, but they are a lot less than I expected. I think for my next ones I'll pick up a set of the es9000s, which may be a while, since these are only a month old.

Hey I know your breaking it down to stock but how did those rear shocks hold up/ did you do any wheeling with them at all? I still have my bds 9500's and they are going strong.
