Just drill a new mounting spot on the lower mount prior to install. I hope to get mine drilled today, depends on workload.

I crawled under the truck yesterday hoping to drill new mounting holes... and man... its gonna be tough to drill accurately. If you go at the mount from inside (drilling out toward wheels), you've got the panhard bar mounts in the way... maybe you'll get .75-1" up the mount. Coming at it from the outside, the hubs are in the way...

I pulled my shocks and they are dead. No rebound at all. Found some Rough Country ones to order this week. Slightly longer which I need, but also may have to do some other mods for brake lines and such. I did notice that the BDS really are not longer enough if you have a spacer and the Z71 springs. Not much travel before they top out.

Did you have lots of rebound when you first got them? I found it strange when I got mine that if there compressed, they would not extend themselves. If I extend them and compress, they was pressure.... not like shocks from other vehicles I've had.

Purely hydraulic shocks work like this....they are just a damper.

Gas charged shocks will give you rebound.

True. They compress really easy, but do take some pressure to extend them. Are they ok then? The entire valve body was pretty well oil covered. I still want some longer ones I think, but these might do some good for someone with z71 shocks???

They sound like how mine are reacting. You can probably get them to someone who's looking to replace stocks or Z71 shocks for a short time.

You have the older style narrow body BDS shocks right? You'd probably be better served by something with a larger body, BDS or otherwise. One of mine (newer style) has a light oil film on the top. The larger body has an interference problem on the left side with the panhard mount. I'm working on that.

Longer shocks may present a problem with full compression. My BDS shocks have about an inch on the rod that is never used. So it stands to reason that one could extend the shocks that length... or in my case, relocate the mounts appropriately.

Those are about 3" longer than the BDS shocks collapsed. You're going to need some longer bump stops.

So from all the info I have gathered is that we need a 16-17 inch collapsed length shock?? Anyone know off hand how wide our shock mounts are? I am on the hunt for something that will work.

I had the lengths needed wrong so I am asking if they have anything else. Bump stops wouldn't be all bad.

I recently installed new shocks on the rear(BDS) and after a week of city driving I jumped back under the TB to recheck everything and noticed that the driver side shock was not where I had installed it by that I mean in the exact position, instead it had moved inboard on it's lower mount only. So when everything was installed both the top and bottom mounts had equal space in relation to left and right on both sides of the TB. However now only the bottom of the driver side shock has moved over toward the middle of the truck, the top of that same shock is dead center as it was and the other shock is dead center as it was both top and bottom. So did I do something wrong or what? The old stock shocks sat dead center but now the new ones have an abnormality on only that side and only that lower end. I will try and get a pic or two up but I just wanted to get this out there and see if anyone has experianced this.

Did you use all the hardware properly?

The small spacers must be pressed over the long spacer and trap the washers, otherwise the rubber bushing will slide around.

my small spacers were the exact same diameter(and would not go over one another) as the long spacer so I figured it may have been for a differant aplication. Now that I know what it's supposed to look like I will just piece something together from the hardware store. Thanks James
