Springs or Spacers

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

ok guys I got me a little dilema.

As you know, my lift consists of the RC leveling kit and Z71 rear springs.

I like my TB to be level. I dont like the forward dip. I want to level out the front end with either Mark's spacers or with new springs.

Here's my dilema:

The thought of a spacer on top of a spacer, metal grinding on metal, just does not sound like a good idea...does this concept make sense to anybody else but me?

My question is:

In your guys' opinion, should I level out with Mark's spacers or use 87 springs?

Thanks guys!! :excited:

What is the metal on metal you're referring to? And do you have a secret source for 87s?

the top of the RC spacer and Mark's spacer....they would have to go on top of each other if I'm not mistaken? And yes, I have a friend who happens to work in the parts department at a Chevy dealership.

Woah, holding out on us?! From my understanding, 86-87-88 have been discontinued. Ask him if he can actually get them. How big is each spacer?

well you have the rough country 2 inch lifter up front, similar to that used by BDS. The difference between my lift and marks is that mine replaces the strut hat. make sense?

You can't use both Mark's and the RC spacer. Both are inside-the-strut designs that preload the spring. You can get Mark's thicker spacer kit, but you can't stack them.

You COULD get Mark's 1/2" OUTSIDE-the-strut spacers and put them on top of your current strut, if the threaded studs on the RC kit are long enough. But if you have aftermarket Cardone CV shafts, you will need to check them at full extension for binding. No guarantees.

Much better to get stiffer front springs.

Or get over the appearance issue. It's BETTER to have more frame clearance as you travel forward.

Take Bills advice. He's never led me in the wrong direction when it comes to the TB.

Jeff, I have the RC lift with Mark's top spacer in the front and Z71 springs and the RC spacer in the rear. I sit pretty much level with no binding (OEM shafts) at full droop. I had to use longer bolts for the front lift and put the bolt in from the top and the nut from the bottom but no issues. After flipping my UCAs I was able to get a good alignment and no binding with OEM shafts.

All that being said, if you can find the springs, get all you can and sell them here.

The springs would be ideal, but navigators solution would do the job too. In the end, if you're going to be putting on a front bumper you're going to want some stiffer springs anyways.
