Installation Question

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

I have one strut assembly ready to be installed but the spring has some curve to it is this doesn't seem normal to me.

Alright, I can't get the lower control arm to line up with the bolt there it attaches. The strut is about .5 -1" too long to fit back. I tried to put the bottle jack in there to push the strut up or LCA(?) down and neiter worked. The colsest was by trying to push down, but the sway bar disconnects are in the way. Any tips on how to make it fit?

Is your swaybar disconnected?

Nope, i could have undone the mounts but it wouldn't have helped cause it's still held up, and I don't have the right tools to take the disconects off. The jack thing worked though, I'll post pics and stuff later when i do the build thread.

It woulda helped and its only a wrench and allen key. It is a bitch with the swaybar connected but mine are not bad with it unhooked.

I had that problem and I just disconnected the UBJ and it let me drop it down so much more to get the strut back on. And its good to disco your front swaybar also.

Yeah I did that the first time as I had no idea that I could do that. And it took way longer with it connected and was a bitch to put back on.

Yup it's very possible. My UBJ and Sway bar were both connected. In the process of Installing the rear I noticed one of the sway bar connections was broken off, is this an issue that should be attended to soon or can it wait?

No wonder you had the use a jack...sure the jack didn't break the connection? Just unhook the front swaybar. Many of us drive disco'ed all the time.

Using the jack on the front couldn't have broken the one in the rear. The rod part was broken and the part that covered the lower ball was gone leaving the greased ball exposed.

No it couldn't but the whole thread has been about the front not the rear.

My thread so I switched the topic. Will this be an issue? The drivers side one is intact just the passenger side is busted.

Have you driven it yet? You will notice more body roll in corners. It's not dangerous, but it will take a little while to get accustomed to it.

I have been driving with it. Got my alignment today too. I haven't noticed any issues really; other than it likes to lean a little to the right on some roads there the slope isn't that bad. Honestly I'm not even sure how long it's been like that.

In your build thread under the installation it looked like the lower control arm might have been resting on part of the tire?

I tend to not trust jacks and stuff especially when my uncle(who I borrowed the jack from) said his will slip on you and sometime you have to keep pumping it up. I would stick the tire under there when I would walk away just in case the jack slipped; I didn't want anything smashing into the concrete. The tire never came in contact with the lower control arm or any part of the frame while it was laying down.
