Shock Bolt sizes

BDS, ReadyLift, Smaxx... You name it, we know about it here.

Does anyone know what the bolt sizes are for the rear shock upper bolt on my 2003 TB? I am going to run the 1/2x4" bolt in the lower mount but if the upper is smaller than 1/2 I was thinking of getting a shoulder bolt to replace the existing one.

Do you have a thread sizing gauge? You can pick them up at lowes or home depot for pretty cheap and are quite handy.

What shock are you looking to run that has larger bolts?

Bilstein 33-185552(has 1/2" mounting holes so the spec says). I was just trying to see if I could get a shoulder bolt with a 1/2" diameter and the threads be what is needed for the shock mount since it appears to have a welded on nut(correct me if I'm wrong). If there is a metric nut on the upper mount like the lower mount, I will just drill out the hole to 1/2" like I am on the bottom and use a nut.

I believe I posted it in the Bilstein shock thread, if you don't you'll get clunking noises.

the only thing i could find mentioned anywhere was that there was a 14mm bushing(i think) http://forums.offroadtb.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3438

Cody, did you do a 1/2" bolt for the upper mount too?

I think all the shocks we've been using accept a 1/2" bolt. I know I almost went with 1/2" with mine because the stocker seemed small. But I used the stock bolts and it is fine.

Yes I have 1/2" in both upper and lower. You'll need to make your own spacers too or just use washers on either side of the bushing. I believe I have one or two washers preside on top.
