within the next couple weeks i am putting 285/70/17s on. read great things about both tires, seems coopers may be a bit quieter. anyone tried either of these and had any luck with em. If i am forking over 1k just want to make sure i get a good tire.

Well I personally have rode with a buddy who had wrangler mts on his jk and they handled very well when we went to Moab UT for the Easter jeep safari. Just throwing that out there, I run Toyo open country mts and I love them.

Screw quite, I like traction. You can drown out the tires with music turned up alot easier than you can improve traction when you don't have it.

actually with you on the quiet thing, however if all is the same if one is quieter i will go that way. Had dynapro mts on my last truck, were good but i spun em every 6k and they got choppy still, have duratracs on my jeep and they are alright more of a rugged at though. havent heard much about the mtrs with kevlar, just dont know if i need the kevlar and i really dont like the tread pattern. I think the cooper look nice, just not sure yet.

Stt for sure.

When the goodyears kevlar slips or they cup like crazy you will wish you had not got them.
I hate to advocate weird chemicals, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...but
they've always worked for me.

on tirerack.com the MTRs are only a 7.7 which is pretty low for a tire that expensive.
