Browsin cragislist lately for rims and I came across this http://nmi.craigslist.org/pts/2984839641.html Seem to to be in good shape and pretty good price. I remember somewhere here there was a post on makeing sure differnt rims will fit our platform?. I looked and searched and found nothing. I'd like to find that post/thread so I can figure if they will work for me?

A quick google search yielded me that they are a 16"x7.5"

Pretty! And yes, they'll fit. 6x5.5 on the lug pattern, so make sure your spacer is also an adapter!

Those are nice rims...another reason I like the FJ.

Bore, Offset, Backspace, There was a couple more.... From what I have read we need a less than 5" Wheel Backspace and less than or equal to 25mm Offset?? Not so sure about the Bore.

I dont need/want the wheel sticking wayyyy out there, looking for something that will be like our stockers with a 1.5" spacer.

something that took me a while to really understand are backspace and offset are essentially the same thing.
Backspace is easier for me to figure.

The offset is basically how far from the center of the rim the mounting plate is.
An 8 inch rim with 0 offset is essentially 4 inch backspace.

You can get the adapters that are not hub centric and the bore won't matter. It will also make it easier if you decide to switch to a different rim later on. Many guys run them with no problems. Mark can get them for you if you let him know when you order.

From what I can tell that Toyota rim is 7.5" wide with 4.75" backspace.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/w ... space.html
our rim is 7 inches wide with 6 inches of backspace.
If I take rim width - backspace 7.5 - 4.75 = 2.75 of what I call "front space" :-)
If I add that to the width of your spacer (1.5) that gives us 4.25 inches sticking out.
Our stock rim has (7-6=1) 1" of "front space"
The Toyota rim will stick out 1.75 more than our rim.
You add the width of the wheel spacer/adapter of 1.5 inches and you get the new rim sticks out 3.25 inches more than your stock rim.

That is if I did all my math right.

I was wanting to do that Navigator. Oh well now I don't have to :D Now thats 3.25" more than our Stock rims w/ no spacer or was that with a spacer? Cause if the rims stick out farther the more strees on the wheel hub/bearing. If I'm right from what I read.

Totally more stress on the hub/bearing. I seem to be changing mine out every year nowadays. Just a budget item now - when they fail they give PLENTY of warning by making noise. They don't just fall off.

Well with that being said I'm gunna pass. Maybe I'll get some rims if I can ever get a better paying job with more hours than I'm working now.

You're bearings are failing that often?

I wonder if it's the dust/sand he sees down there. My originals are going strong still. My front wheels leave the ground a lot...

I thought most failures were due to water ingestion or poor sealing.

Bill, have you taken to buying cheapola ebay wheel bearings?
