American Racing Wheels with Goodyear Duratracs

Need new shoes? This is the place to discuss.

by Saxis » Fri Oct 29, 2010 1:36 pm

AR-321 Fuel, Black w/ Machined Lip, 17x8, 6 on 127, 5.48" backspace, 25mm off-set.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, LT265/70R17, Load Range C, 31.7", 18/32 tread depth, 40 PSI currently.

Put them on last night. Rides great. The Duratracs aren't much louder than stock, with just a very slight hum. There was some rubbing at the very bottom, inside corner of the bumper cover, but not on the fender liner. Not exactly what I was expecting in regards to rubbing. I think it's just the little different design of the Envoy front bumper cover; inside the fender curles back toward the tire, with the far inside corner pointing toward the tire. A small hack saw took care of the problem. I had to trim the inside corner of the bumper cover. No good pic opportunities yet, so just a few in the work parking lot. I'll probably take a few more on my lunch break, while I do a little more trimming... :viking:

Ooooh, purdy!

You need to get some dirt on those wheels so they don't look so... showroom! :flex dirty:

Yeah, the machined lip has quite a blingy shine. Essentially, they are the same wheels as Fishsticks' AR Trench as far as size, backspace and off-set. Just different styling. I got them for $100 each; cheaper than most new wheels. I'd be interested in knowing what Fish paid, as his list for $20/each more than mine.

Lookin' good! From what I've heard about the duratracs you will be happy.

Edit: Also about rubbing... You will most likely experience much more once your offroad and flexing.

Ya know, they are the same as Fishy's! But shiny.

As far as price for the Fish, I'm sure he got 'em cheap. He tends to get good deals. :coffee2:

I paid $150 each for my wheels... Not the best deal, especially considering how long it took them to get me a full set of 5. I paid < $175 per tire though, which is a good deal for the tires I have. Ultimately the 12 months no interest sold me.

If I had it to do over again I'd have bought 6x5 -> 6x5.5 spacers and black steel NASCAR wheels.

The coatings on these wheels have put up with a LOT of punishment and still come clean and shiny.

(I wax them... )

Yep, $150 sounds about right for those. I mis-stated. I actually paid $112 each for mine. Caught them at a 17% discount sale. The tires on the other hand were $197 each, but free mount/balance and free shipping. I've been waiting quite a while to catch a good enough deal to jump on.
